St. Joseph’s of Greenwich Village NYC Parish Website

The Client

St. Joseph’s Church in Greenwich Village is the oldest Catholic Church in New York City. Its pastor, Fr. Boniface Endorf, was spearheading a project to return it to its architectural glory and to install the city’s very first perpetual adoration chapel. These were not the only renovations happening in the parish, however. Alongside the building’s reconstruction, the parish had recently undergone a rebrand to appeal to the younger, tech-savvy, artistic demographic that made up a good half of St. Joseph’s parishioners. With a new logo in place, the church was now in need of a website makeover.

The Need

At the time, St. Joseph’s website had been constructed on eCatholic, a free-template web design platform specifically geared towards Catholic churches and organizations. The problem was that it was minimally functional and had limited design options. Fortunately, the site already got a lot of traffic, according to Google Analytics; but it simply was not attractive or user-friendly enough for all those visitors. St. Joseph’s needed a website that would both incorporate the new brand and present an online presence equal to the atmosphere felt in person in the church’s community.

The Solution

Fabelle Creative Co. was hired for a complete website overhaul, which switched to Squarespace’s user-friendly platform, reorganized the site’s content layout, integrated necessary third-party applications such as FlockNote and donation sites, and featured easy-to-use forms for new parishioners, individuals seeking to become Catholic, adoration time sign-ups, and more. This site was beautifully and thoughtfully designed from the perspective of an active and devout Catholic lay person, using the brand guidelines, professional photography, and written copy provided by members of the parish office. At the end of the project, St. Joseph’s Church was able to assume ownership of the website and manage it in-house.

Rebecca did a great job making our new parish website. She was easy to work with, took feedback well, and made a beautiful webpage that serves our needs. I recommend her.

—Fr. Boniface Endorf, Pastor
